Zibo Heyee's official drop-in grade for Sasol Sasolwax A28 is HY 104-28, also marketed as HY-A28. This page gives the verified properties, the A28 comparison, and a note on the common grade-confusion with HY 100-28.
HY 104-28 is produced by oxidizing Fischer-Tropsch wax. It carries polar carboxyl groups and is emulsifiable. The table below shows both the TDS specification range and the HY-A28 inspection report typical values.
Sasol's Sasolwax A28 is a benchmark oxidized FT wax with acid value around 28 and drop point around 100–105°C, used in PVC edge banding/profile, hot-melt adhesives, inks/coatings, ABS release and wax emulsions. HY 104-28 sits in the same band (acid value 26–30, drop point 95–102°C, melt viscosity 20–28 cP at 140°C) and is Zibo Heyee's designated A28 domestic substitute.
| Property | HY 104-28 (Heyee TDS / HY-A28) | Sasolwax A28 (typical*) |

| Acid value (mgKOH/g) | 26–30 (typ. 27.6) | ~28 |
| Drop point (°C) | 95–102 (typ. 106.2) | ~100–105 |
| Congealing point (°C) | 85–93 (typ. 94.5) | ~90–95 |
| Melt visc. @140°C (cP) | 20–28 (typ. 23.5) | ~20–30 |
| Polarity / emulsifiable | Carboxyl, yes | Carboxyl, yes |
| Form | White microbead | Prill / powder |

The main difference is supply chain and cost: imported Sasol is exposed to ocean freight, FX and quota variability, while domestic HY 104-28 is supplied directly from the Zibo base with more stable lead time and batch consistency, plus the inherent OFT advantages over oxidized PE wax — higher crystallinity/hardness, narrower molecular weight distribution, lower odor, higher purity and whiteness.
| Scenario | Recommended grade | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Substituting Sasolwax A28 | HY 104-28 (HY-A28) | Matches A28 drop point/viscosity/acid value band |
| PVC edge banding needs higher drop point & viscosity | HY 104-28 | Drop point 95–102°C, viscosity 20–28 cP |
| Lower drop point, lower viscosity, easier dispersion | HY 100-28 | Drop point 90–100°C, viscosity 8–15 cP |
| Hot-melt, ink, wax emulsion general use | Either | Select by target drop point and viscosity |
Suggested dosage: 0.3–0.8 phr external lube for PVC edge banding; 1–5% viscosity modifier for HMA; 0.5–2% for ink mar resistance. For A28 replacement, run a small trial at equal dosage comparing cut-edge gloss, release force and odor before scale-up.
Yes. Zibo Heyee's designated grade for Sasolwax A28 is HY 104-28 (HY-A28), an oxidized FT wax with acid value 26–30, drop point 95–102°C and melt viscosity 20–28 cP at 140°C. It is suitable for PVC, hot-melt adhesive, ink and release.
Both are oxidized FT waxes. HY 104-28 has a higher drop point (95–102°C) and higher 140°C viscosity (20–28 cP), matching Sasolwax A28. HY 100-28 has a lower drop point (90–100°C) and lower viscosity (8–15 cP).
HY 104-28 is FT-wax based and oxidized, giving higher crystallinity/hardness, narrower MWD, lower odor and higher whiteness; OPE is PE-wax based, lower cost and more general-purpose. Both emulsify.
